What

A sailing race with eligible classes including all PHRF Spinnaker, PHRF Non-Spinnaker (No double headsails), Casual Cruising and Cruising Catamaran classes for yachts 22’ or longer. And new this year will be an added "Poker Run" for power boats only.

Why

To raise money for cancer-related programs in our community: research, patient services, advocacy and education programs for youth, adults, and health care professionals.

Entry & Payment

Included in the $50 registration fees are:

  • Skippers’ meeting and pre-race party on August 6
  • Post-race party for skipper and crew of two
  • T-shirt and novelties for skipper

Course

A copy of the drop mark locations for special events of the Little Creek Sailing Association will be provided at the skippers’ meeting. The actual course will be displayed on the committee boat at the race start.

Schedule of Events

Friday, August 6, 1999

  • Mandatory Skippers’ Meeting at Bay Point Marina at 7:30 p.m.
  • Pre-race Party begins at Bay Point Marina at 8:00 p.m.

Saturday, August 7, 1999

  • Planned first warning of race start at 9:20 a.m.
  • Poker Run begins at 12 Noon
  • Post-race Party begins at Bay Point Marina at 8:00 p.m.

Start Time & Classes

To be posted at the Friday night (August 6) Skippers’ meeting. Eligible classes include all PHRF Spinnaker, PHRF Non-spinnaker (No double headsails), Casual Cruising and Cruising Catamaran classes for yachts 22’ or longer. The planned first warning will be at 9:20 a.m. with the first fleet starting at 9:30 a.m. The planned time limit will be 4:00 p.m.

Cruising Classes

A special non-spinnaker cruising class is open to all non-measured yachts whose skippers have not raced in CCV, CBYRA, or similar scored races. Yachts that race in the Little Creek Wednesday night races, Barnacle Races, Willoughby Thursday night races or similar races must race in PHRF classes.

Poker Run

Start time to be posted at Friday, August 6 Captain's meeting. Classes to be determined from Entrants. Entries from Trawler Fishing, PWC, Perfomnance, Monohull, and Catamaran Craft are encouraged.

Equipment

USAA requirements of the special Regulations Governing Minimum Equipment and Accommodation Standards for Category 4.

Who

The Little Creek cup is presented by a volunteer committee branch of the American Cancer Society in Hampton Roads whose goals are to firmly establish the Little Creek Cup as one of the premier fundraising events in Hampton Roads to raise funds for the ongoing fight against cancer.

Sanction & Awards

The American Cancer Society will conduct and manage the race. Awards in each class will be presented on Saturday, August 7, 1999, at 6:00 p.m. at the post-race party.

Dockage

Overnight dockage will be available at Bay Point Marina, Little Creek Marina, and Taylor’s Landing Marina at $0.60 per foot. (Half of the proceeds will be donated to the American Cancer Society.)

Fundraising

All skippers and crew are encouraged to seek donations to sponsor their boat in the race. Awards will be presented at the post-race party to the individual and crew raising the most money. Refer to the enclosed fundraising form for additional information.

Admission to Party

Additional tickets to the pre-race party can be purchased for a $10.00 donation in advance and post-race party tickets are available at a cost of $15.00 per person in advance.
